Maiden name index (1880-1959)
Note, all issues of The Chronicle for the years 1930, 1942 and 1943, and for Jan-Jul 1957 are unavailable.

I have indexed The Scott County Journal for those years and that index is available here.
The Chronicle was a weekly Republican newspaper published in Scottsburg, Scott County, Indiana with issues available on microfilm beginning in February 1880. Indexing of the obituaries and death notices is underway and the index will be made available here in increments of decades as they are completed. Obituaries and death notices range from very brief mentions to extensive and detailed obituaries. The index often gives an indication of the extent of the obituary or notice, the more detailed the index listing, the more extensive the obituary or notice. Not included in the index are deaths for individuals such as national or state political figures or others not related to Scott or surrounding counties in some way, such as those listed in statewide "curiosity" type columns.
If you are interested in obtaining a copy of an obituary and do not have access to The Chronicle on microfilm, I can provide, for a small copy and mailing fee, a copy to you. The fee is $1.50 per obituary, paid in advance with your request. If you have a PayPal account and are requesting at least 5 obituaries, you may send your request by e-mail and pay for them using my e-mail address for my PayPal account. Additional information relating to an obituary, identified by a note of "see also" is provided as a bonus at no additional cost. Send your request, with the complete index listing(s) and fee to:
Jeff Harmon
2980 S 600E
Franklin, IN 46131

Please do not request obituaries outside of the indexed decades as it may be months before I index the obituary requested, if it even exists.
If you would like to be notified when a new decade is completed and posted here for review, please e-mail me at jhar33@aol.com
