Subject: A project for you
Hi,
Again,
Here is a deeper presentation on the URL for Appendix. The locals
in those counties got together and called on all the residents
to contribute their family history as a genealogical research
effort. They have been collecting materials for years, from books
now in public domain and other testimonials. And the local people
were looking for an archive for their past history. The result
is this accessible site with no commercial "sign-up"
preventions. Anyone who has these local surnames can learn about
their ancestors. Many names have intermarried in the region.
Since the census in Britain is non-existant before 1840, To embark
on a project like this would be wonderful for the region of Cumbria
. There are more Stampers in the Phone book in Keswick than in
any place I have ever been. Yet it is very difficult to find
one in the Stamper forum who knows much about the past generations
in Cumbria. Maybe someone over in UK would take up this task
not just for Stamper but for all these enthusiasts. Open Records
do exist in the Carlisle Courthouse. They are very early but
they cover scattered areas and years with no way to string the
families together. Looks like the New River Valley in the region
of Wilkes has created a "clan". Bye, Dorothy

The
New River flows north thru two states here in the USA. Wilkes
was the original territory in Colonial days. We are trying to
preserve its scenic beauty against industry. Bye, Dorothy
