Hello, My name's Beth and I started researching Martin W. Stamper because he was the first sheriff of Upson, GA and I'm
doing the history of law enforcement for Upson, GA for the archives there. I had to go to Pike, GA to research him and I
found quite a bit on the Stampers in Pike, GA. The family was very wealthy....
In 1832, Irby Stamper was appointed by the inferior court the guardian of Thomas Pitman who was orphaned
when John Pitman passed.
 July 5, 1836
Jane Stamper, Martin W. Stamper, and Spencer Stamper appointed administers of estate of Irby Stamper.
December 1836
Jane Stamper, widow of Irby Stamper comes forth to the court about her third of estate.

Jan 2, 1837
Spencer Stamper, admin of estate of Irby Stamper comes to court for an order to sell the estate...

Not sure of date..
Martin W. Stamper appointed guardian of Sophia S. Stamper, orphan and minor child of Irby Stamper...
