 Jordans of Carter County, Ky
Compiled by Nancy K H Straight, 6143 Manzanillo Dr, Golita, Ca 93117

The following was compiled from various sources: census, marriage, vital statistic records; my father, Vess Albert Hale (1888 – 1937),
and his living sisters; Hattie Jordan Scott (b 1888, still alive); an 1882 Carter County lawsuit (#5044). After having researched both Jordan Families
of Carter County, I believe that William and James were brothers. Pleasant Jourdan, son of William, married Anna Burchett, dau of
John Herron Burchett, a descendant of Benjamin Buchett. My gr grandfather, Albert Dallas Jordan (1845 – 1933) was born on
Jordans Fork of Tygert Creek in Carter County, Ky.

Joseph Jordan vs John Herron Burchett, suit filed July 16, 1882 contesting the will of Joseph Jordan, deceased. Following are the children
of James and Martha Jordan, as proven by the death (?) of Uley (Julia) Jordan Fannin, who died July 26, 1857. Most were born in
North Carolina where their father James (s/o John & Elizabeth) was born c1768. He died Sept 11, 1855.
