BROWNLOW COMBS DIED FRIDAY

Williba, May 24 - Brownlow Combs, 71, died at his home here Friday of
asthma. He was a native of Wolfe county and was born March 3, 1865.

In 1883 he was married to Miss Ella Stamper who was the mother of six of
his 13 surviving children - four sons, Rudy Combs, Irvine; Barney Combs,
Clay City; Mitch Combs , Hazard, and Jesse Combs, Fillmore, two
daughters, Mrs. Keen Barker, Fillmore and Miss Josie Combs, Pontiac,
Mich.

In 1905 Mr. Combs was married to Miss Jammie Dale of Breathitt county
and is survived by seven children by this marriage. There were four
sons: Walter, James, Burl, and Willard of Williba, three daughters, Mrs.
Clay Crawford, Pontiac, Mich., Misses Madge and Thelma, Williba. In
addition to the 13 children, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Arminie
Combs age 91 years. His wife died March 21, 1935.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday by the Revs. J.H. Hieronymus,
Buck Creech, and Floyd Creech and burial was in the family graveyard.

FORMER WOLFE MAN DIES AT PINE RIDGE

Campton, Feb 4 -
T. Frank Stamper died Thursday, Jan. 27, at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Sam Perkins, Pine Ridge, after a long illness.

He was born and reared in Wolfe County. In his early manhood he
embarked upon the career of school teaching. Later on he entered
politics and became quite prominent. He was elected sheriff and later
became jailer.

He is survived by one brother, G.B. Stamper, of Torrent, two daughters,
Mrs. Emery Gene Rogers, Maysville, and Mrs. Sam Perkins, Pine Ridge; two
sons, Clayton Stamper of Pebworth, and Elsize Stamper, of Middletown,
Ohio, and several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Saturday, at the Methodist
church in Campton. Rev. T.R. Woodford, officiating. Burial was in the
Stamper Cemetery.

Rev. Stamper dies

The Rev. McClellan Stamper, 78, died Wed. Jan. 24, 1940 at his home near
Beattyville following a brief illness of pneumonia. Funeral was held
Friday. For more than 50 years, Bro. Stamper was a minister in the Christian
Church and served two years as evangelist of the Second London District. He
had preached at Clay City and Vaughn's Mill churches at different times, where
he gained many friends who will be saddened at learning of his death.

Surviving are his second wife, and twenty children- twelve sons and
eight daughters, one of whom is an infant; 75 grandchildren and 30 great
grandchildren. It was said of him that he acted as a Good Samaritan in taking care
of the widows and orphans.

Mrs. Grace Stamper Townsend, of Stanton, and Mr. Larkin Stamper, of LaGrange,
are cousins

2 brothers, Dave Coldiron, Grant County and Howard Coldiron, 2 sisters,
Mrs. Mary Roberts, Akron, OH and Mrs. Lizzie Walters, Mt. Sterling, several
grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Buried in the Hazel Green Cemetery __ Porter and Son Funeral Home.
 
 

Dexter Stamper

Dexter Stamper, age 55, passed away January 31, 2005 in south Lyon MI.
Dexter was born on October 13, 1949 in Northville MI to the late Seldon
Stamper & Lora Burton Stamper.
On september 11, 1971 he married Laverl "Suzie" Couch.
Dexter is survived by his wife Suzie Stamper of South Lyon,
Sharma (Gerald) Daniels of KY, Kevin (Connie) Stamper of South Lyon,
5 brothers, 1 sister and 4 grandchildren.
A Funeral service was held Friday, February 4 at Phillips Funeral Home South Lyon MI
